“Greens of South Caucasus” Initiative’s Conference in Telavi

Telavi, Georgia—From September 23-27 2011, the representatives of the National Citizens' Initiative (NCI) NGO Hovsep Khurshudian and Armen Torosian took part in the conference aimed at addressing issues of relevance to the South Caucasus region—environmental challenges, democratic development, and protection of human rights—held in Telavi town, Georgia. The event, organized by the Greens Party of Georgia with the support of the European Green Party, brought together more than 30 representatives of 20 organizations concerned from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

At the end of the meeting, the delegations—including NCI—unanimously adopted a declaration on the principles of the South Caucasus Greens entitled “New Green Road for the South Caucasus.” To note, a few days ago the “European Movement in Artsakh” NGO joined the statement.

A resolution was passed on the establishment of the conference’s working body—Coordinating Council.
